History of fundamental 20th Century rights, “Bartolomé de las Casas” Human Rights institute of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, funded by the Fundación Marcelino Botín and Banco Santander Funding Body: Banco de Santander and Fundación Marcelino Botín. Duration: 2009-2011 Researchers in charge: Gregorio Peces-Barba, Eusebio Fernández, Rafael de Asís and F. Javier Ansuátegui Objectives: The objective of this research project is the analysis of the situation of human rights in the 20th century , the current situation of human rights, the problems and challenges faced, possible solutions and their effective introduction. The project will aim to examine and propose rights socialization channels, criteria for shaping political systems from the human rights perspective, both on a state and an international level, and answers to the problems currently representing great challenges to human rights. This general objective can be further specified as follows: • To carry out proposals aimed at the shaping of public policy, the design of institutions and acts of operators linked to human rights. • To study the social context in which human rights unfolded in the 20th century. • To study the importance of 20th century thought on human rights. • To study the main 20th century juridico-political texts with regard to human rights. Research Team: Over 80 researchers from different Universities and Institutions.
