The Juridical Sociology Laboratory of the Universidad de Zaragoza (LSJUZ) was created to coordinate the work of a group of researchers at the University of Zaragoza. Subsequently, the Universidad de Zaragoza research team received recognition as a Consolidated Research Group from the Government of Aragon in the calls for proposals of 2002, 2005 and 2008. Amongst the group’s main lines of research, the most important are: "El tratamiento jurídico y social de la violencia familiar y de género", [“Legal and social treatment of domestic and gender violence”] "Derechos humanos"; con especial referencia a los "Derechos de la Infancia y de la Adolescencia" y "Derechos económicos, sociales y culturales" [“Human Rights”, with particular reference to “Rights in Childhood and Adoclescence”, and “Economic, Social and Cultural Rights”]; "Ciudadanía, participación y exclusión social" [“Citizenship, social participation and exclusion”], "Libertad y Seguridad" [“Freedom and Security”] and "Seguridad, Estado social y cultura punitiva" [Security, the social State and Punitive Culture”].
